Online Therapy for Pasadena
Pasadena is close on a map and far in practice. Thirty-two miles and two of the worst freeways in the county sit between us, which is why this is a video page rather than a page about how easy the drive is. It is not easy. Anyone who has attempted the 134 to the 405 at 5pm knows exactly what I am declining to pretend here.
Pasadena clients arrive with a fairly recognizable profile: institutionally serious, often academically formed, frequently the person in the family who was reliable from about age nine. Caltech, JPL, Huntington Hospital, Art Center, the private schools, the old family houses off Orange Grove. High expectation is the water, and nobody in it thinks it is unusual.

How Sessions Run
Video instead of the 134
Sessions are secure video at a fixed weekly time. Clients log in from home offices in Bungalow Heaven, labs and lab-adjacent offices where a door closes, and kitchens in Altadena and South Pasadena after the school run has cleared out.
The honest comparison is this: a fifty-minute session in my room would cost a Pasadena client between two and three hours door to door on a bad afternoon. Video costs fifty minutes. Over a year of weekly work that difference is not convenience, it is whether the treatment happens at all — and long, unglamorous continuity is what actually changes a pattern.
Who I See
Who I see from Pasadena
Scientists and engineers from JPL and Caltech, physicians and nurses from Huntington and Kaiser, designers and faculty from Art Center, attorneys, and a significant number of parents navigating a school culture in which a child's eighth-grade trajectory is discussed with genuine seriousness.
Adult children of the San Gabriel Valley are a category of their own — often first- or second-generation, often the sibling who succeeded on schedule, and often carrying a level of family obligation that nobody has ever described as heavy because describing it that way would feel like a betrayal.
In the Room
What Pasadena brings into a session
Achievement that stopped counting
A career full of objectively impressive results, none of which registered internally for longer than a weekend. That gap is workable, and it is usually older than the career.
The reliable one
Being the family's steady person from childhood produces an adult with excellent judgment and no practice at needing anything. We work on the second part.
Pressure passed down a generation
Parents who want to expect less of their kids than was expected of them, and find themselves doing it anyway at 9pm over a math worksheet.
California Only
In-person, and the state line
If you do want to sit in a room, the Santa Monica office is available and some Pasadena clients come in occasionally — usually monthly at most, and usually on a day they were already going to be on the Westside. Weekly is more ambition than the freeways will support.
I am licensed only in California, PSY35842, so sessions require you to be physically in the state. That comes up more than you would think with sabbaticals, conferences, and extended family trips, and we plan around it rather than improvise.
