Therapy for Brentwood, Los Angeles
Brentwood does not have my office in it. What Brentwood has is one of the easiest drives to it in the city, and a very particular kind of client who tends to arrive about eight years later than they should have.
The Brentwood presentation is usually competence. Somebody who has never missed a deadline, never made a scene, and cannot understand why they lie awake at 3am running a conversation from Tuesday. Nothing is visibly wrong. That is frequently the problem — the life is functioning well enough that nobody, including you, has treated the distress as real.

Getting Here
The drive down from Brentwood
From San Vicente, Barrington, or the Bundy corridor you are looking at roughly ten to twenty minutes to Santa Monica, depending on whether you have picked a time when the 405 is exhaling onto surface streets. Twenty-sixth Street south, or Bundy to Wilshire, and you are here.
The practical advice I give Brentwood clients is to book before 11am or after 2pm and skip the school-run and beach-traffic windows entirely. People who choose their slot around traffic instead of around optimism keep appointments far more reliably, and consistency is a real clinical variable, not a scheduling preference.
Who I See
Who tends to come from Brentwood
Attorneys, physicians affiliated with UCLA and the Westside hospitals, finance and entertainment executives, and a large contingent of women in their forties and fifties running households that operate like small, under-resourced companies.
There is also a steady stream of Brentwood parents whose children have left for college and who have discovered that the structure holding a marriage together was logistics. When the logistics end, the actual relationship becomes visible, and it is not always the one they assumed they were in.
In the Room
What Brentwood brings into the room
Achievement as anesthetic
The next case, the next round, the next renovation. Work has been the reliable way to not feel something for so long that stopping feels physically unsafe. We look at what the pace is metabolizing.
The marriage nobody is fighting in
No shouting, no betrayal, just two logistically compatible strangers. Many Brentwood clients find that harder to name than open conflict, because there is no incident to point at.
Inherited standards
A childhood in which love was contingent on performance produces an adult who is excellent at everything and does not believe any of it counts. That belief is workable, and it is slow work rather than a reframe.
Telehealth
Or skip the drive entirely
Plenty of Brentwood clients never come in at all. Telehealth is available anywhere in California, and for someone billing in six-minute increments, the forty minutes of round-trip driving is often the deciding factor.
If you want the room, it is fifteen minutes away in Santa Monica. If you want the hour without the car, we do it by video. Neither one is the consolation prize.
