Online Therapy for San Jose
San Jose work happens entirely by video, and South Bay clients tend to be the most efficient schedulers in my practice. They book a recurring slot, they arrive on time, they treat the hour as a commitment. That discipline is an asset and also, frequently, the thing we end up examining.
The most common San Jose opening is a version of: everything is on track and I feel nothing. Good title, good compensation, house that took eleven years to get into, kids doing well. And a flatness that has been there long enough to seem like a personality trait rather than a symptom. It usually is not a personality trait.

How Sessions Run
Video sessions into the South Bay
Sessions are secure video at a standing weekly time. People log in from a home office in Willow Glen, a small room in Almaden between calls, a booked conference room in North San Jose with the camera pointed at a blank wall. Nobody has to explain the wall to me.
What South Bay clients gain is that a fifty-minute block is the entire cost. No 280, no 101, no parking structure. That makes it possible to hold a slot at 8am before standup without redesigning the day around it — and a slot you can hold for a year beats a better hour you abandon in March.
Who I See
Who I see from San Jose
Engineers, engineering managers, and technical leads more than any other group, plus hardware people, semiconductor staff, nurses and physicians across the Valley health systems, teachers, and a large number of people who came to the Bay Area from India, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, or the Philippines — sometimes themselves, sometimes their parents.
That last group brings something specific and worth naming: the pull between a life your family sacrificed to make possible and a life you would actually choose. I do not treat that as a conflict to be resolved by picking a side. Both loyalties are real, and pretending one of them is irrational has never helped anyone in my office.
In the Room
What the South Bay brings into a session
Flatness mistaken for stability
Numbness is not calm. Many clients here have been level for so long that feeling anything at all initially reads as something going wrong.
Perfectionism with a performance rating attached
When the standard is external, quarterly, and numeric, self-worth follows the calibration cycle. We work on where the standard came from originally, which is rarely the employer.
Marriages that became logistics
Two demanding careers and a shared calendar can run for years without either person saying anything true. Naming that early is much easier than naming it later.
California Only
Where I can practice
My license is California only — PSY35842 — so sessions require that you are physically in the state when we meet. For South Bay clients that is usually straightforward, with one common exception: extended travel to another state or overseas for work or family means we pause, and I will say so directly rather than continuing and hoping nobody notices.
The office is in Santa Monica. That is not a weekly option from San Jose, so treat video as the actual format for this work, not as a fallback.
