Marina del Rey, California
Therapy for Marina del Rey, California
Marina del Rey is one of the few places on the Westside built almost entirely around apartments, which means the people who come to me from there are disproportionately single, recently divorced, newly relocated, or between chapters in some other way.
That produces a distinctive first session. Instead of a specific symptom, the opening line is often closer to: I think I keep doing the same thing, and I would like to know why before I do it again with someone new.

Getting Here
The trip up from the Marina
Lincoln north or Admiralty to Via Marina and up the coast — either way you are in Santa Monica in about ten to twenty minutes, and it is one of the more forgiving drives on this list outside of summer weekends.
The exception is anyone commuting out of Playa Vista during standard hours, when Jefferson and Lincoln conspire. Marina clients with tech jobs usually book early morning or use video on office days.
Who I See
Who comes from Marina del Rey
Tech and aerospace employees from Playa Vista and El Segundo, flight crews and travel-heavy professionals, plus a large population of people in their thirties and forties who moved here after a separation because the building had a gym and nobody there knew them.
Retired residents who have been here for decades also come in, often around loss, health changes, or adult children who have become distant in a way nobody in the family will discuss directly.
In the Room
What Marina clients bring
The relationship that keeps ending the same way
Different people, identical eighth month. We map what happens at that point — what you feel, what you do, what you believe about them — until the sequence is visible before it runs.
Transitional living that stopped being transitional
The one-year lease is on year six. Many clients here describe a life they never quite decided on, and that is workable material rather than a personal failing.
Loneliness with a good view
Proximity to hundreds of neighbors and almost no contact with any of them. Isolation in a dense building is still isolation, and it affects mood the same way.
Telehealth
Easy either way from here
The drive is short enough that in-person sessions in Santa Monica are realistic for most Marina clients week to week.
For anyone who travels for work, telehealth keeps the schedule intact anywhere in California, and it is straightforward to move between formats month to month.
